Wimbledon Village Business Association - AGM - Tuesday 6th March

WIMBLEDON VILLAGE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

Annual General Meeting

Tuesday 6th March 2012 at 6 pm

Venue:  To be confirmed

WELCOME TO NEW BUSINESSES IN THE VILLAGE

WE WOULD LIKE TO GIVE A WARM WELCOME TO THE FOLLOWING NEW BUSINESSES THAT HAVE RECENTLY OPENED IN THE VILLAGE:

Hobbs opened their doors for business in November and the look is very stylish. Great selection of clothes, shoes and boots.

Le Creuset opened for business last week, just in time for the Christmas Shopping Day; lots of lovely pots and pans in a fabulous range of colours. It is rumoured, but not confirmed, that they have plans to hold cookery lessons in the shop.

Kooples also opened its doors in time for the Christmas Shopping Day. Another great range of stylish clothes, pop in and have a look.

Two Sisters – 3 Church Road
Two Sisters opened in the Village in September, selling an eclectic mix of glass, china, furniture and all manner of lovely things for the home.  And yes it is owned and run by sisters – that is the 3rd pair of sisters running businesses in the Village that we know of.

Bellissima Beauty Boutique - 33 Church Road ...
Arrived in the Village earlier this year, taking over Luella’s Boudoir.

Pet Pavilion – High Street
Pet Pavilion also opened in September, opposite Stone Lion Vets. Something completely different; Pet Pavilion cater for all your pets needs, from food and toys to grooming and even doggie walking.

The Lawn Bistro – High Street
The Lawn Bistro has opened up in what used to be Lydons on the High Street. Nice new look and interior, fantastic menu with something to suit everyone. Already receiving great reviews in the press!

Konig Kitchens – High Street
For all those wishing to update their Kitchens, you now have somewhere to go locally to make your selection; opened recently in the High Street.

Farrow & Ball – High Street …
opened in the summer, taking over from the Jewellers on the High Street that had been there for many years.

KOKOS – High Street …
Opened in the High Street, taking over from Laidback London.

Village Gifts - High Street ...
has reinvented itself and become Beaumont Interiors – another two sisters joining together in an extension of Beaumont Interiors in Church Road. They are going great guns and as they are opposite Farrow and Ball and further along from Konig, if you are refurbishing you have everything you need on your doorstep now!

Hobbs - High Street ... Now open.

Blink - High Street

MOVING AROUND THE VILLAGE

Diane Von Furstenberg …
has temporarily taken over Sia’s old shop while waiting to move into where LK Bennet’s sale shop was near Matches. They are planning to move in on Wednesday 9th November.

Luella’s Boudoir ...
Is now above The Common Room at 15A High Street

AND COMING SOON TO THE VILLAGE ...

Cafe Nero .... is soon to open where the Brewery Tap was.

Church Road – there is a new shop coming where Generations Charity Shop was next to Mint Source. I have heard a rumour what it might be but we will have to wait and see. Keep your eyes peeled.

Sad News ....

Westwood Rocks closed their doors on Sunday night after the Christmas Shopping day. They continue to trade in their Guildford Shop and the Village would like to send their best wishes to them for the future and thank them for all their support in Village events over the past 2 years. It is particularly sad as they opened around the same time as Senti and Caroline Randall Lingerie and we feel particular empathy with them in these hard times.

Totally Delicious…..

If you haven’t tried one of Butcher and Grill’s Bacon Sani’s you don’t know what you are missing! Remember the old days when bacon was bacon and it had rind and you cooked it until crisp; dry cured bacon the old fashioned way and totally delicious. The noises coming from our office during the first experience were almost obscene! Ring them up and order one and by the time you get there it will be cooked to perfection. We had to award B&G a gold star for these.

And whilst on the subject of all things delicious ... during the Christmas Shopping day we discovered that Cafe Rouge makes the most awesome Mulled Wine. I just had to pop in there this morning and confirm that this was something one could continue to enjoy during the festive season and it is. Drop in and have yourself a glass, you won’t regret it.

And there is more…. pop in to the Light Cafe any day around 3pm and order a scone with the works (heaps of jam and cream).  Me and the girls have to share one now or we could become quite addicted. If you get in there dead on the dot of 3pm they will still be warm.

Just one more ... Village Bakery. They bake loaves like your granny used to buy. They have customers who travel from Richmond just to buy their week’s supply. Even the staff miss it

Welcome to News & Events

This section of the web site will offer members of the Wimbledon Village Business Association an opportunity to submit information which they consider might be of general interest and which can then be loaded onto the web site.

For example:

  • shops may want to publicise promotions, price reductions, the arrival of new stock;
  • restaurants, cafes and bars may want to draw attention to special evenings or events
  • businesses may want to let people know about upcoming events they are sponsoring or hosting
  • etc

We hope that this will become a very lively forum with members of the Association sending in new data for posting on a regular basis.

This facility cannot be offered to non-members of the association but anyone who would like to become a member can do so by contacting Wendy Grant .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and then join us in publicising what is happening in our Village.
