Don’t Miss The Magic! Wimbledon BookFest’s Sunrise Festival Is Now On

Wimbledon BookFest’s Sunrise Festival was opened last night by the inimitable Sir Lenny Henry. Comedian, actor, writer and national treasure Sir Lenny spoke to an audience of 500 school children aged 8 – 11 from ten local primary schools. He presented his debut novel, The Boy with Wings – the heart-warming story of Tunde, an average kid who suddenly sprouts wings during a football match, embarking on an exciting and sinister journey of discovery.

Running until June 15th, Sunrise offers something for everyone, to suit all tastes and moods. Hear from award winning fiction writers as well leading commentators as they discuss the big topics of the day – from the war in Ukraine and the impact of the return of Taliban rule in Afghanistan, to the restorative power of nature and the battle against climate change.  The festival also includes leading children’s writers, comedians, writing workshops, local walks and even film.
