Wimbledon BookFest returns to Wimbledon Common for its second event of 2021.
Speakers include Rick Stein, Sebastian Faulks, John Cooper Clarke, Anne Sebba, AC Grayling, Jess Phillips MP, Tristram Hunt, and Robert Peston. Writers sharing their memoirs include Miriam Margolyes, Anita Rani and Giles Terera, star of the musical Hamilton. Fiction lovers won’t be disappointed by a range of events with both new and established voices including Elif Shafak, Christy Lefteri and Salena Godden. Cellist Steven Isserlis will be talking about Bach’s much-loved Cello Suites and award-winning Ukrainian ballet dancer Sergei Polunin will discuss his life journey.
Dog lovers can join animal behaviour expert Graeme Hall, and for sports fans BookFest Patron, Brian Moore returns with his popular rugby night with guests David Flatman and Mark Durden-Smith. There’s comedy with Dr Ed Patrick and fun with the QI Elves.
Walks include bird walks with Charlie Corbett, storytelling with Saira Niazi and a new walk exploring Wimbledon’s historic links to the slave trade. Workshops include a writing workshop at Southside House, pottery with Lucy Davidson, embroidery with the Royal College of Needleworkand meditation with Jo Bowlby.
There are events for children too at the Sunset Festival with authors and illustrators Chris Riddell, Sophie Dahl, Rob Biddulph and Polly Dunbar.
