Christmas in the Village 2023

Join us on Sunday 3rd December, 10 am – 5 pm

Our Festive Family Funday

Organised by the Wimbledon Village Business Association in aid of local charity Wimbledon Guild, Christmas in the Village is jam packed with activities for the whole family.

Santa will be greeting and treating children in his Grotto throughout the day and at lunchtime he will take to his trusty steed for a horseback parade down the High Street, complete with Elves and bells!

The kids can also enjoy fairground and pony rides, face-painting, a petting farm, meet the Wimbledon Fire Brigade and attend *balloon twister *story time, *dance, *clay-modelling and *music sessions.

The Christmas market will be offering a great selection of festive food, drinks and gifts and you can soak up the Christmas vibe throughout the day with music from a host of choirs and bands.

To wrap up the event, we’ll be inviting everyone to join us for sing-along carols mince pies and mulled wine at the Christmas Tree lights switch-on.

10 am – 4.30 pm: Santa’s Grotto

No need to book. Just turn up and queue to visit Santa. You’ll find him at the heart of the Village outside The Dog & Fox, 24 High Street.

10 am – 3 pm: Christmas Market

A selection of festive food, drink and gifts stalls along the West section of the High Street.

10, 10.30 and 11 am: Storytime

Hosted by Wimbledon Babysitting at Day True, 19 High Street. Each session lasts for approximately 20 minutes. The first two storytime sessions are appropriate for 0-4 years old while the final session is for 4-8 year olds. This activity MUST be pre-booked. 10.30 am – 3 pm: Pony Rides

No need to pre-book. You’ll find the ponies at Mason’s Yard, 34 High Street (the little courtyard next to the Village Surgery). Please note the ponies will take a break during Santa’s horseback parade, 1.30-2pm

10.30 am, 11.15 am, 12 pm & 2 pm Clay-Glo Forest Sensory Workshops for 3-10 year olds

For Christmas in the Village, Hands on Big Ideas presents Clay Glo Forest – a sensory workshop where children experiment with natural materials and clay. Visit the Clay-Glo Grotto and sculpt your festive forest friend. Then dust your creation with glo-pigments to make it come to life!

10.30 am – 2.30 pm: Petting Farm

Head to the corner of Rushmere Green (on the edge of the Common just beyond the Christmas Market) for a chance to meet and pet some cute and cuddly animals from Deen City Farm. No pre-booking required.

11 am – 1 pm: Meet the Wimbledon Fire Brigade

Come and say hello to our friendly fireman and women who (subject to no emergency call outs!) will be bringing an engine up to Christmas in the Village. They’ll be parked up in Haygarth Place, just off the High Street, so do go and say hello.

11.30 am: 30 minute Ballet Taster Class for 3-6 year olds

Gather outside The Dog & Fox next to Wimbledon Village Stables for a chance to see Santa and his Elves arrive on horseback and parade up and down the High Street.
