Friends of Cannizaro Park launch £6k Crowdfunder Appeal

In a time when green space has become ever more vital for physical and mental wellbeing,  The Friends of Cannizaro Park are seeking public support to help fund a long term programme of restoration at this 300 year-old park.
In the first project, a new design for the park entrance developed with Chelsea gold-medal winning designer Catherine Macdonald (https://www.landformconsultants.co.uk), will transform the neglected and worn space into an avenue of flowering trees, underplanted with bulbs, to give colour and interest year-round. Drab beds around the fountain will become places of colour and scent with new shrubs, flowers and climbing plants. If funds permit, yew hedging will be installed to create a beautiful and peaceful pathway to the main park. Finally, hard landscaping work from the park’s owner, Merton Council (bike racks, and repairs to fencing, paths and lawns), will complete the project.
Of total project costs of £13,500, over 50% has already been covered by internal fundraising and donations. In its October Crowdfunder appeal, the Friends look to raise the final £6000, so the project can go ahead. £5 buys a plant; £20 buys a shrub or a climber; £50 buys a yew hedging plant; and £250 buys a tree. Every donation counts.
The fundraising appeal is live on Crowdfunder from 1 to 31 October:
