WVBA welcomes the Wimbledon Shop pop-up in the Village

20 April 2018: The Wimbledon Village Business Association (WVBA) today welcomed the decision by The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) to open its first pop-up retail shop in Wimbledon Village.

Located at 17 the High Street, the pop-up will be open from late May until the end of The Championships, selling a range of official products, such as clothing, headwear, rackets, bags and balls, towels, keyrings, and other gifts. The pop-up in Wimbledon Village will complement the existing shops and kiosks open to the public during The Championships within the Grounds of the AELTC.

Adrian Mills, WVBA Chairman, commented: “This is fantastic news for Wimbledon Village. We are proud of our links to the AELTC and have been collaborating with them to achieve our vision of increasing the appeal of the Village as a visitor and business destination, not only during the tennis, but also throughout the year. As we prepare to celebrate the return of The Championships, the Wimbledon Shop pop-up will be the perfect addition to our summer activities – shop window competition, the hanging baskets and the flags – that all make the Village such an attractive and buzzing place to be in.

“Via the High Street Group forum, made up of local organisations interested in promoting the Village, we were able to show the AELTC that their presence in the Village would be welcomed and would encourage a significant increase in visitor numbers. Consequently, there will be a clear beneficial effect for all local businesses. A win for everyone involved.”

Richard Lewis, Chief Executive of the AELTC, commented: “We are delighted to be opening a Wimbledon Shop pop-up in the Village. Through The Championships and more recently our charitable arm the Wimbledon Foundation, the AELTC has a long history of working with our local communities. We enjoy a strong relationship with the WVBA and, in our membership of the High Street Group have been working together towards promoting Wimbledon Village as a thriving high street, a visitor destination and a significant part of The Championships’ arrival experience. We are looking forward to an exciting summer.”

The WVBA is a not-for-profit organisation, committed to promoting Wimbledon Village as a commercial centre and organising community events to promote the interests of business and visitors. To learn more visit www.wimbledon-village.com, or call Daniela on 07719 350 032.
