Tickets are now available for two brand new events at Wimbledon BookFest’s Sunset Festival, which is less than a fortnight away. On Sunday 19th, to close the festival, Erik Samuelson, former CEO of AFC Wimbledon will be telling the inside story of how the most undervalued people in football – the fans – defied the odds to take their club back to the Football League and return home to Plough Lane. Also added to the line-up, Steven Isserlis. whose recent recording of Bach’s Cello Suites met with the highest critical acclaim, will be in conversation with the Observer journalist, Rachel Cooke on Friday 17th.
Wimbledon BookFest’ second in-person festival of 2021: Sunset, being held from 15 – 19 September, features over 40 live events including talks, workshops and activities, for public and schools audiences.
High profile speakers include veteran of stage and screen Miriam Margolyes OBE (pictured), award-winning TV and radio presenter Anita Rani, celebrity chef and restaurateur Rick Stein, best-selling historical author Sebastian Faulks and the “poet laureate of punk” John Cooper Clarke.
