Wimbledon Museum Reveals Stunning New Design

The Museum of Wimbledon is undergoing a substantial refurbishment which will transform the space and make it fit for the 21st Century. The Museum, which first opened its doors in 1916, is located on the upper floor of the Wimbledon Village Club on Ridgway. Its last refurbishment was in 1993. This new project will recreate the museum with entirely new displays, AV and conservation grade cases for some of its most precious treasures. The new Museum design is by Philip Simpson of Philip Simpson Design and will cost in the region of £180,000 to design and build. The Wimbledon Society has made a significant contribution covering around 50% of the costs, while fundraising and a donation by the Wimbledon Foundation have also generated significant funds. The Museum is relying on crowdfunding to raise the remainder.
